1st IMV - Humeco swine reproduction scientific and technical day

Held in Huesca, Spain, on the 16th of November, the first occurrence of the event drew more than 160 people. The majority of the Spanish professionals and specialists involved in swine reproduction and Artificial Insemination was present.

The topics discussed addressed current and future challenges faced by the AI industry and how new technologies could play a critical role in helping overcoming them.

IMV’s “savoir-faire”: a must in Japan

After their purchase of a GENOM’X machine IMV had the privilege to host a delegation from Hokkaido Genetics. Based on the long time relationship between our companies, IMV provided complete training on the latest technologies and techniques for semen processing, semen analysis & artificial insemination. The entire French expertise in semen production and animal testing was show-cased.

An African minister at IMV

Last week, we received a Sudanese delegation led by the Animal Resources Minister. Sudan is the second largest cattle herd in Africa (with almost 8 million dairy cows). The government now wants to improve their local breeds with exotic breeds through artificial insemination.

IMV present at European embryo transfer congress in Chester (UK)

This important 2 day meeting was held on September 9 and 10 with many international speakers and 160 people from almost all EU countries who participated.
Special attention and interest by visitors was the EMXCELL flushing media and the new CRYSALYS freezing unit.

7th International Boar Semen Conference

Last week, the VIIth ICBSP was held in Bonn Germany.
More than 200 participants from close to 40 different countries listened to the high quality presentation.

A large variety of subjects, from cryopreservation, semen processing, semen analysis, to factors influencing sow fertility were covered.
Several presentations evaluated the relationship between semen characteristics (Motility, morphology, viability...) and field fertility.
This new finding increases the need for objective, accurate and precise tools to evaluate semen.

IMV, one of the major sponsors, introduced the latest finding of its R&D department:

  • advanced semen protection with the BIO SHIELD and BIO activator technologies
  • antibiotic free semen preservation
  • embryo transfer.

Chinese delegation visits IMV!

The world largest population of horses is in China and the equine industry is booming. Preparing for the next equestrian world championships to be held in France, a delegation of high ranking Chinese officials visited Normandy last month.

World Pork Expo 2011: The USA think deep...

The annual World Pork Expo was held this week in Des Moines, IA. Over 20 000 producers and industry professionals attended this Expo, the world's largest pork-specific trade show featuring business seminars, hundreds of exhibitors, breed shows and sales, and plenty of food and entertainment for everyone. The post-cervical insemination, with the goal of decreasing the number of sperm cell per dose was the major topic of discussion.

Official IMV plant inauguration

More than 100 people gathered last week for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Officials, IMV employees (current and past), journalists and local partners shared a cocktail and had the opportunity to visit the facility. All were impressed and congratulated IMV for this innovative and modern production tool which will help IMV ahead moving forward.
